ConnectedTown: the Newest New Jersey Town
is Welcomed
Connectedtown.com Attracts Visitors and new Residents at
NJSLOM Conference By Demonstrating New Shared Web Services for
Local Government
For release: November 17, 2006
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Morris Internet Group demonstrated its new statewide
news and information service to an enthusiastic audience of government officials
and related businesses. The 91st Annual Conference of the New Jersey State
League of Municipalities in Atlantic City hosted over 1100 vendors and 21,000
people in what is believed to be the largest statewide gathering of local
government in the country.
Launched just a week ago, ConnectedTown.com has access
to over 1300 newsworthy stories gathered from official town websites in
Morris County. Paul Kiczek, President of MIG and publisher of ConnectedTown.com
stated, “We took advantage of a unique opportunity to test our new
service in front of several thousand visitors. The enormous positive feedback
we received at the show was a testament to the value of the ConnectedTown
concept.”
ConnectedTown.com is a unique information service dedicated to supporting
local government towns, counties, and other agencies and authorities. It
is based on a concept of offering local information to a broad audience
with new easy access, automated weekly email, and RSS news feeds. By aggregating
information from many towns, web services can be economically shared among
towns and the public. ConnectedTown services are offered to any town at
no cost in support of local government.
“While our policy is for our staff to initially load information from
town websites, we hope to turn over control to towns as soon as they are ready.
Towns can immediately benefit by linking their website to specific ConnectedTown.com
pages that display their news,” said Kiczek. A new online Town
Monthly Calendar feature that displays events was also announced and demonstrated
at the show.
While ConnectedTown’s plans call for gradually adding all
566 New Jersey towns by county over the next twelve months, priority
will be given to towns that express a genuine interest in actively
participating in the project.
Morris Internet Group also offers a premium level of these services
under a product family called ConnectedCitizen.
ConnectedTown customers can upgrade at any time to ConnectedCitizen
and enjoy customized features, personalized service, and added valuable
features.
